Recommendations

In the final stage of the project, the research team of the University of Coimbra drafted a document containing Guidelines for a criminal justice system that ensures that imprisonment is a measure of last resort, guarantees a humanistic and rehabilitative approach to non-custodial sanctions and addresses the rights and specific needs of persons in situations of particular vulnerability or belonging to minority groups. Those Guidelines were presented to the Portuguese Ministry of Justice and shared with relevant stakeholders of the project.

The recommendations are available here.
